Do you have a dispute between colleagues at work and unsure how to resolve it? Then mediation may be the fix that you’re looking for…
What is mediation?
Mediation is a structured, interactive, and facilitative process led by a specially trained, impartial third party. Designed to resolve conflict, it can be used at any stage of a disagreement or dispute. The process is flexible and voluntary, and any agreement is morally rather than legally binding. The process aims to create a safe, confidential space for those involved (the ‘participants’) to find solutions that are acceptable to both sides.

Being an inclusive organisation is good for your business. A diverse workforce is an innovative one. Supporting employees leads to higher levels of productivity and staff retention. Most employees and in particular disabled people or those with intersectional backgrounds can experience barriers – so there is a real incentive to understand how to retain and make the most of existing talent.
But the barriers these groups of employees can face can prevent them from realising their full potential at work, which can lead to conflict. Addressing these barriers involves more than just making reasonable adjustments, adopting flexible working practices or having intentional anti-racist policies for instance. An inclusive culture of openness in the workplace enables employers to retain and develop existing staff and recruit from a wider talent pool.
